In common with our earlier recording, Wassail! A Country Christmas (BEJOCD-8, 1995), this CD features traditional carols, along with secular songs and dance tunes appropriate for Christmas and the Winter season.

Many of the carols were collected from rural singers roughly one hundred years ago; the songs themselves were even then somewhat archaic, and had been left behind by changing popular taste. However some of the songs here, although they date back a couple of centuries, are still sung today, as part of vigorous community carolling traditions.
