A few years ago Ian and Andy were invited to sing on the Mellstock Band CD Songs of Thomas Hardy's Wessex, which featured songs quoted or alluded to in Hardy’s novels. Ian sang this song, which was collected from Mr J. Pomery of Bridport, Dorset in May 1906.

We have combined the song with Kettle Drum which appears in the first eight editions of John Playford’s English Dancing Master. Our interpretation owes much to the recording of the tune by Benji’s Mum and Dad.
